On Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28, just over the Alabama line is the Siege at Bridgeport Civil War re-enactment. Located on a rail line and the Tennessee River, Bridgeport was an important supply link during the war and the siege occurred in April 1862. The re-enactment is one of the largest in the country. More on this event next week.

Break out the green and put on your Irish. It’s time to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. We start early at Stevarinos with the fourth annual party. Irish food will be served starting Saturday, and there’s a big party Saturday night with live music from Wrong to Wright.

The Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church is in the midst of its annual Lenten Fish Fry. The next four Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., the church will offer a fried catfish dinner, accompanied with fries, beans, hushpuppies, cole slaw and dessert. The cost is $7. The church is located at 704 Holly.
