The Covenant College Concert Series continues this month with the Alison Brown Quartet performing on Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. Alison Brown is a three time Grammy nominee, as well as a Grammy winner for her Fair Weather release on Compass Records.

The Mountain Hospital for Animals has two kittens looking for homes. The first is a male domestic long hair that was abandoned on Highway 157. He is approximately eight weeks old and is adorable. The second is a female Tuxedo and is approximately 6 weeks old. She was found by the entrance to the Lula Lake Land Trust. Please help find homes for these two, and call 821-8000 for more information.

The second annual Women’s Hang Gliding Festival is coming again on Sept. 24 through 27 at the Lookout Mountain Flight Park. Sept. 24 will be registration, with Lupi’s pizza cooked on site and the band Gary Edmonson Trio. This night will be free for registrants. Sept. 25 will be all day flying followed by open mic night with Dave Miller. Sept. 26 will again be all day flying followed by dinner, the band Lumbar 5, a silent auction and the award ceremony for $10. Sept. 27 will be the last day with all day fun flying. The Town of Lookout Mountain, Ga., will hold a public meeting Aug. 27, 6:30 p.m., at the Fairyland Club. The town is encouraging all residents to attend and see what has been learned about the mountain, based on a draft proposal presented by consultants from the Walker Collaborative. Resident feedback is needed at this time. Please plan to attend this very important meeting to discuss three scenarios for future growth on Lookout Mountain. Body Fit Concepts and Cheron's Dance Studio have announced new classes for the end of summer and start of fall. Chris Campbell, Body Fit's T’Ai Ji instructor, will be teaching T’Ai Ji class starting Aug. 8 for six weeks. There will be five classes on Saturdays at 10 a.m.

The Lula Lake Land Trust has opened the Cloudland Connector Trail located at the new trailhead off of Nickajack Road. The trail will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Directions are from St. Elmo Avenue, head south toward W. 44th Street and travel 1.4 miles. Enter Georgia, and continue on GA-193 for 5.5 miles. Turn right at Nickajack Road and go 3.4 miles, arriving at Nickajack Road trailhead on the left. Grand opening announcement soon to follow. Visit www.lulalake.org for more information.
