Oct. 16, Central High will celebrate Homecoming as the Pounders take on the Tyner Rams. The candidates for homecoming king are Ryan Adams, Tyler Cranford, Cade Crawford, Jackson Medley and Preston Womack. The candidates for homecoming queen are Emily Lawrence, Casey Reese, Shavon Silver, Suzanne Williams and Hannah Yancey.

Starting on Sept. 16, Lakewood Baptist Church will have an exciting new children's program, master clubs, for ages 3 years through sixth grade. A teen program, truth seekers, will begin on that date as well. Clubs meet at the church, located at 6626 Hunter Road, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Transportation can be arranged by calling 423-344-6334. The Central High Class of 1984 will hold their 25th reunion on Sept. 18 and 19. Friday activities include a barbecue in the gym at Central (must RSVP and pay in advance) and football game to follow. Sept. 19 from 7 to 11 p.m., there will be a dinner at Fox Cay Restaurant. Be prepared to pay $15 cash at the door. The Central High Alumni and Supporters Association is sponsoring a barbecue dinner in the school gym on Sept. 18. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end just prior to the kickoff of the Central vs. Hixson game at 7:30. The cost for dinner is $10 per person. It’s reunion time for the Central High Class of 1974. Plans include a casual get-together in the school cafeteria on Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m., with snacks and drinks provided. Former band members are encouraged to dust off their instruments and participate in a short performance. The cost is $7 for individuals or $10 for couples. On Sept. 19, there will be dinner and dancing at the River Inn restaurant with live music provided by the Stratoblasters. The cost is $32 for individuals and $64 for couples. On Aug. 1, the Women's Ministry Team of Bayside Baptist Church will host a ladies’ Saturday matinee from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the student center. Light refreshments will be served during the movie. They will also preview the Beth Moore Bible study on Esther titled, "It's Tough Being a Woman." This is a free event and all ladies are invited to attend. On July 25, the Harrison United Methodist Church Mission Team will be have an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at Applebee’s on Shallowford Village Drive near Hamilton Place from 8 to 10 a.m. This fundraising event will help support this year’s team as they travel to the mountains of south Virginia to Project Crossroads. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $6 each or two for $10. Pancakes, sausage and drinks will be available for eat-in only. Come on out and enjoy a great breakfast while showing support for this worthy cause!
