The turned wood bowls of Three Notch Road resident Dave Edwards will be on display and for sale at the Catoosa County Library through the end of March while he reigns as artist of the month.

Edwards said he glues together 700 to 800 pieces of wood cut at precise angles and then turns the form in a lathe to make bowls 16 inches across.

He’s been making his segmented bowls for three years, though he’s been a woodworker all his life.

Edwards said he began experimenting with lathe chisels bought at an estate sale after a friend’s death and is now an instructor at the School at Narrow Bridges at Woodcraft of Chattanooga in East Brainerd.

Edwards is also a member of the Tri-State Woodturners Club in Chattanooga.
