Do you have a band instrument that is not being used? If so, consider donating it to the music program at Brown Middle School. This gift will make it possible for students to enjoy a sense of accomplishment through music while developing self-discipline and teamwork skills. Research shows that students who participate in band programs score higher on standardized tests. It may be possible for you to receive a tax credit for your donation. The Lake Hills Neighborhood Association encourages residents to attend its meeting on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church. John McGirk, former president of the Belvoir Neighborhood Association, will discuss neighborhood initiatives.
