ST. ELMO: River City Industrial performs well

Although River City Industrial is not as big as Chattem, it’s another St. Elmo business that is doing well, despite the economic turndown.

River City Industrial, located on the south end of St. Elmo on Tennessee Avenue, has been in business for more than 20 years. The focus of their business is to purchase industrial motors, breakers, transformers and other equipment from factories and businesses that are either closing or undergoing a change in production. River City, under president Philip Mantel, buys this equipment, ships it back to their St. Elmo warehouse, clean and repairs the items as needed, then resells items on eBay. The whole process helps the factory or business that is closing, provides a steady business for River City and offers good industrial equipment at discount prices to factories and businesses – a real win-win-win!
