LaFAYETTE: Veterans’ Day celebrations encouraged

Veterans’ Day is Nov. 11, and I would like to encourage everyone to do something to celebrate it. The dollar stores have Veterans’ Day cards, so we can send one to a veteran or someone currently serving in the armed forces. We can have Veterans Day recognition at your church or possibly an assembly at a local school (or just in a classroom) and invite parents and grandparents to share their experiences. How about a visit to the local veterans’ hospital? Visit www.history.com/content/veterans/sign-up-to-take-a-veteran-to-school-day for more information on National Take a Vet to School Day.
