In an attempt to scare up extra funding for the Mountain Education Foundation, mountain moms are hosting a Monster Bash costume party for adults 21 and older Nov. 7 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

“We just thought it would be really fun and for a great cause,” said Thrasher PTA member Monique Poteet, who is co-hosting the party with Stephanie Cate, Carrie Fowler, Lisa Shander and Amy Sowell.

The Monster Bash will take place at the Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club. Tickets are $35 per person if reserved by Oct. 30 and $45 per person after Oct. 30. Tickets will also be sold at the door the night of the event if available. Admission cost will cover one drink. Additional drinks will be available for purchase.

The hosts emphasize that all of the community is invited to attend the soiree, not just parents.

“A good school benefits everyone whether you have a child in that school or not,” said Fowler.

DO THE MONSTER BASH

Monster Bash, a costume party to benefit the Mountain Education Foundation, is Nov. 7 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club. Tickets for adults 21 and older are $35 each on or before Oct. 30 and $45 after Oct. 30 if tickets are still available. To purchase tickets call 517-0772. For more information visit the Mountain Education Foundation Web site.

MEF Executive Director Mike Taylor said that he is pleased with the party planners’ efforts and sees them as a good indicator of community interest in the schools.

“We’re always looking for new ideas to make raising money for our schools fun,” said Taylor. “This is something that is fun and exciting and not stuffy, so it was a good fit.”

Artist Cindy Procious will add to the festivities by drawing caricatures that may be purchased, while Holly Wood will be on hand to take pictures that cost $5 each.

Costume contests will determine the evening’s best dressed in the funny, sexy, couples and best scare categories. Taylor will determine an overall winner for the evening who will have the pleasure of taking home a cash prize.

Shuttle service will be available when party-goers who don’t want to drive are ready to head home.
