Ladies of the Women’s Missionary Union and leaders at First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe invite the community to their campus for a free arts and crafts showcase Nov. 7.

“The showcase is another way we can get out in the community and be more connected,” explained youth minister and church activities director Adam West. “We're teaming up with the WMU to raise money for missions and reach out to our neighbors.”

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the showcase will feature local artwork, jams, jellies, handmade purses and much more. A $20 registration fee for vendors will go toward missions supported by the church. All artists and crafters that sell at the event will get to keep all their proceeds for their business.

“We’re really doing it for the community and to help support our local artists,” West said. “We want to be involved in many different aspects.”

Members of the WMU will also host a cake walk to help raise money for their cause during the showcase. West added that most money from the event will likely go toward the Lottie Moon missions offering.

“For our vendors, it’s a $20 registration fee, but the money goes to a good cause and it’s a great time to be out in the community,” West said. “Shoppers will get to see local crafts and artists and help support them. Artists will get to share what they can do and maybe establish some new long-term relationships with purchasers.”

Artists and crafters interested in having a booth at the showcase can stop by the church office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
