Abba’s House is celebrating the entire family with a Trunk or Treat Festival Oct. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m.
“Families are looking for great events that are fun and suit their budget,” said children’s pastor Lea Martin. “This event is free and definitely fits the bill. Trunk or Treat is two hours of fun for the entire family. Last year we had 2,000 people come through.”
Martin said it is an exciting event where children can wear costumes and collect candy. Volunteers will serve up free soft drinks, cotton candy and popcorn, and prizes will be given away, including two iPods. Abba’s House student pastor Chris Brooks will be speaking and the Awaken Dance Team will perform.
“Seeing families together having fun is what’s important to me,” said Martin. “It’s about having fun with your children.”
Martin said teenagers are welcome to enter the sumo wrestling or boxing tournament by enrolling at 2 p.m.
Abba’s House, at 5208 Hixson Pike, will host Trunk or Treat from 2 to 4 p.m. behind the church. For more information, visit the Abba's House Web site.
He said Abba’s House volunteers will pass out candy through carnival games instead of through trunks this year. Preschool games include a treasure pool, go fish, a bean bag toss and a lollipop tree. Games for elementary ages through adults include a driving range, golf, a rat race, a tire toss, a floating ball gallery, a super looper and a basketball shooting game. Inflatables, obstacle courses and a tumble bus will also be included.
“A flush game to drench children and teen ministry leaders will be available,” said Martin. “I will be flushed.”
Martin said anyone in the family can enter to win one of two iPods that will be given away.
