Junior League of Chattanooga’s semiannual Clean Sweep event returns to the former Goody’s space at Eastgate Town Center Oct. 15 and 17.
“We’ve got some great deals,” said fundraising chairwoman Tahnika Rodriguez.
She said Eastgate Town Center owners donated the space for the sale.
Clean Sweep fundraising chairwoman Tahnika Rodriguez, left, and event co-chair Meredith Rivers try out a sofa that will be for sale at the Junior League rummage sale fundraiser at Eastgate Town Center.
Junior League members have each donated at least $100 worth of furniture and other household items, including books, art, lamps, kitchen items, sporting equipment, computer monitors, toys and more.
“We even have a boom box,” Rodriguez said.
The Brew and Stew preview party is Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Guests pay $15 at the door and can purchase items before the crowds hit.
Junior League members buy that day at a 50 percent upcharge.
Preview party guests will vote on beer selections provided by the Terminal Brewhouse and Big River Grille & Brewing. Two beers are included in the cover charge.
Junior League members will provide homemade stew, cornbread and dessert to accompany the Brew Battle. Guests will also vote for their favorite stew and dessert.
A silent auction will offer Tennessee Vols tickets and gift certificates to area boutiques including Bellies & Babies and Garden Salon & Spa.
The Remarkable Rummage Sale is Oct. 17, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests pay a $3 entry fee that day.
Rodriguez said 94 percent of every dollar donated to the Junior League is put back into the Chattanooga community.
The Junior League supports the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, which provides dental work for kids, Re:Start Center for Adult Education, and a spring Kids in the Kitchen event to teach children about healthy eating.
The Junior League also partners with Chattem to award $20,000 in mini-grants to Hamilton County public school teachers every year.
“It’s no longer the white gloves and tea,” Rodriguez said.
