ST. ELMO: Habitat begins new house

The McCallie chapter of Habitat for Humanity will soon begin work on its 13th Chattanooga area house, constructing a home at 57th and Alabama for a single mom and her three sons. The actual construction, which will begin in a warehouse in which the framing of walls is completed, will take place over the next three months with a home dedication slated for Dec. 12. McCallie alumnus Eric Haralson, class of 1965, will coordinate the construction with the help of McCallie students and faculty advisor Sumner McCallie.

Any St. Elmo residents who want more information, desire to make a donation or would like to volunteer in any way should contact Linda Sneary at 756-0607, ext. 22. Habitat for Humanity has constructed hundreds of thousands of homes worldwide since their founding in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller in Americus, Ga., providing housing for more than a million lower income families.
