Soddy-Daisy High School is hosting a Meet the Trojans event Oct. 8 in the football stadium at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $2 in advance and $3 at the gate.
From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. a barbecue dinner will be served for $5 a plate in the stadium stands followed by the senior girls and the junior girls facing off in a powder puff football game at 6:30.
“It is a football-friendly atmosphere,” said David Sneed, SDHS teacher and Student Council advisor. “It is our third year to do the powder puff football game. At halftime we will spotlight our sports teams and our band program. We will do it for Soddy-Daisy High School, Soddy-Daisy Middle School and Loftis Middle School.”
Sneed said the football players, cheerleaders and band members will walk out on the field.
“A portion of the proceeds are going to Relay for Life,” said Sneed. “We will take a collection up at halftime for (American Cancer Society). Everything that night will be the ACS colors of purple and white. At the start of the game we will release white balloons in honor of cancer survivors.”
Sneed said that Soddy-Daisy High School has an ACS Relay for Life team that walks each year in the fundraiser to fight cancer.
Soddy-Daisy High School Student Council, the football cheerleaders, the football team and the marching band are coming together to make the Meet the Trojans night possible.
