SODDY-DAISY: Veterans honored Tuesday

No matter how many fall seasons I see, the colors still amaze me. A quick drive around town or a slow drive over Highway 111 to the Sequachie Valley will give you the splendor of the season. While there, check out Wheeler Apple Orchard at 956 Wheeler Road or call them ahead at 423-949-4255. You'll also find apple everything at Fairmount Orchard on Signal Mountain. Their number is 423-886-1226.

A special resident, Ruby Crooks, will have her 100th birthday on Nov. 18. Her family is extending an invitation to all her friends and former students for the celebration on Nov. 14. She taught third and fourth grades at Allen Elementary School between 1955 and 1975. Stop by the Soddy Daisy First Baptist Church fellowship hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to join in this special day.

Soddy Daisy Middle School will honor all veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces on Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium.
