Adding to the beauty of their picturesque property, perfectly decorated this fall with vibrant red and gold foliage, officials at Montlake Golf Club are tossing in a dash of philanthropy by hosting a tournament to benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank on Nov. 7.

“We felt like we needed to do something for the community and get the golfers involved in raising money for the coming holidays,” said tournament director and sales manager Michael Field.

The tournament is open to anyone who wants to play the game and enjoy the scenery, but Field said the philanthropic activity is available to anyone who simply wants to give back.

The club has put together tournaments to benefit organizations for the Special Olympics and disabled veterans.

“These guys are very community-oriented,” said Signal Mountain resident and golfer Jim Grieving. “It’s just a neat little place to play.”

The Nov. 7 tournament requires a $50 entrance fee and 10 canned food items. In exchange for their participation, golfers may expect to receive lunch, fellowship and a chance at winning cash prizes.
