The golden hues of changing autumn leaves may remind many of the beauty of nature, but Signal Mountain resident Doris Chambers’ photography offers year-round reminders.

“Her work looks like Mother Nature blinked,” said Cutting Corners Framing and Art Gallery owner Linda Roberts-Harris, who serves as a local retailer for the nature-inspired prints and note cards. “Her love of nature is what she captures in her photography.”

Chambers said she often receives praise for her eye and how it translates into art, adding that she enjoys unique angles.

Chambers is now working to turn her full-time love into a blooming business through additional retail sales and outlets, including art shows. She said she’d also like to start a Web site soon and possibly extend her lens to local landscapes around the mountain.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Doris Chambers said she has always loved the name Isabella. That’s why it is now the name of her blossoming photography business.

“If I had had a daughter I would’ve named her Isabella,” Chambers said.

To find out more about the selection or projects of Isabella’s, contact Chambers at 886-4769 or isabellasigmtn@aol.com.

“I worked for a hundred years in the business world downtown but now I have time to push a little more and pursue it a little bit (more),” said the former Provident employee. “I’ve taken pictures forever just as a hobby. It would be wonderful to have a hobby and really something you enjoy doing and make a successful business out of it.”

Currently Chambers’ selection consists mainly of the flora and fauna of her Fox Run yard.

“I’ve always liked flower gardens and photography, so I really started taking pictures of flowers in yards,” she said, adding that she is receptive to taking pictures of particular subjects for clients. “I’m perfecting my style through botanicals.”
