
The Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) has selected Chattanooga City Engineer Bill Payne as the 2009 Outstanding Engineer of the Year for the state of Tennessee.
Mr. Payne was recognized for his contributions to TSPE and the engineering profession at their annual meeting held last week in Murfreesboro.
“Bill has been instrumental in coordinating and overseeing work at the Enterprise South site for the new Volkswagen facility,” said Mayor Ron Littlefield. “It is an honor to have Bill working for the City of Chattanooga. He is an exceptional employee.”
Mr. Payne has been employed with the City of Chattanooga since 1995. He received a Civil Engineering Degree from The University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1995. Mr. Payne has served as a professional Engineer since 1999. He was named to the position of City Engineer in 2005.
