The American Heart Association is proud to announce that both Unum and Memorial Hospital have emerged as top 100 fundraising companies within the American Heart Association's Greater Southeast Affiliate for the 2008 Start! Heart Walk campaign.
This annual campaign has been held in Chattanooga for over 25 years, and serves as the American Heart Association's premier fundraising event.
“Unum and Memorial both did an incredible job.” said Dale Huffstetler of the American Heart Association. “During the campaign, walk events are held across the affiliate, which spans every state in the southeast, plus Puerto Rico. Hundreds of companies are involved, so for Chattanooga to have not one, but two companies in the top 100 is a really big deal for us.”
The Unum team, led by Teresa Headrick, raised $27,344 which was the most by a company in the Tennessee Valley campaign. Company leaders Judy Foster & Melanie Ellis captained the Memorial Hospital team which came in a close second locally with just under $22,000 raised. 'These companies had great leadership and very motivated employees. We're extremely blessed to have such talented volunteers involved in our cause.” Huffstetler said.
The Chattanooga office of the American Heart Association would like to congratulate both these teams and sincerely thank them, in addition to all of the other sponsors, teams and individuals of the 2008 Start! Heart Walk for their support and dedication during this year's campaign. The 2009 TN Valley Start! Heart Walk will be held on October 17th at AT&T Field.
