Neighborhood Partners Program Awards Ceremony Recognizes 32 Local Organizations

Chattanooga, TN – Thirty two neighborhood associations and community organizations will benefit from the Neighborhood Partners Program in 2009. The program, administered by the Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development, gives community organizations an opportunity to apply for funding to enhance their neighborhoods by implementing neighborhood development, safety and beautification projects.

The winning projects will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, December 18 from

2 – 4 p.m. at the Bessie Smith Hall. Mayor Ron Littlefield and the Chattanooga City Council will present award certificates as part of the ceremony.

According to Beverly P. Johnson, Administrator of the Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development, this partnership between the City of Chattanooga, neighborhood associations and selected community organizations empowers communities to take ownership of the health of their neighborhoods.
